

A Classical Guitarist aimed at expanding classical music accessibility, Derick's focuses efforts on commissions of new, genre blending works and private teaching informed by multiple styles. With a focus on musical literacy, Derick builds a bridge between musical worlds for performers, teachers, and music listeners.
Derick Sears, guitarist and entrepreneur, pursues an eclectic music career performing, recording, event planning and program coordinating. In 2023 Derick served as program coordinator for the Orange County Children’s Therapeutic Arts Center. Additionally, he has enjoyed creating multi-faceted events with workshops, competitions, lectures and performers. Some of these events include the Woman of Guitar Concert Series and the Leo Brouwer International Composition Competition and Festival, honoring the composer's first visit back to the United states in over 40 years since the lifting of the US Embargo. During the pandemic and while living in California, he embraced pandemic inspirations to record classical guitar videos highlighting the beautiful landscape of the West. Derick’s current work with the Phoenix Guitar Society and Lead Guitar support his musical mission for community access to classical music. He continues to be highly involved in his local and global guitar community through group and private teaching, adjudicating and performing.
